In leather industry the raw materials are by-products of the meat industry. Leather can be drawn from almost all animals skin. And so the goods made up from leather are expensive. Depending upon the existence of that breed of animal, the value or the cost of that animal's leather is decided.

There are many forms of leather that goes through many chemical processes. Vegetable-tanned leather, chrome-tanned leather, synthetic-tanned leather, alum-tanned leather and rawhide leather. By different chemical processes in these many forms of leather, various leather chemicals such as foaming agent, additives, sodium sulfide red flake, degreasing agent, ammonium persulphate, leather dyestuffs, etc. can be formed. By various chemical reactions many acids and glues can be also being formed.
