The leather has to be treated with waxes and many different oils to guard them against elements. It is very powerful surfactant which dissolves in the aqueous drum environment. Heavy duty dressings, water proofing oils and waxes are sold as brush-on or rub-on products. They are usually oil-based and combine tanning agents to help extend the life of leather with waterproofing agents that bond the material. These heavier waterproofing agents generally work well on products containing mixed ingredients (nylon & leather), hiking boots and other outdoor leathers. Many heavy oils, such as mink oil, also condition leather, leaving the leather product softer and suppler. After dyeing these leathers are finished with wax or oil or a combination of both. These special waxes and oils provide a protective coating plus enhance the base dye colour. For areas of heavy to medium wear, i.e. family rooms, dens, etc. This leather may lighten in colour over time requiring replenishment of the waxes and oils. Do not place in direct sunlight, as resistance to colour loss is medium.
